Professional Learning Community

A Professional Learning Community

—What is a PLC?

“…A Professional Learning Community is a collaboration of teachers, administrators, parents, and students, who work together to seek out best practices, test them in the classroom, continuously improve processes, and focus on results.” Definition by Rick DuFour, 2002.

The ONE Thing

—In a Professional Learning Community, “learning” rather than “teaching” is the fundamental purpose of your school.

Four fundamental questions that drive a PLC (DuFour):

1.What is it we want our students to learn?
2.How will we know if they are learning?
3.How will we respond when individual students do not learn?
4.How will we enrich and extend the learning for students who are proficient?

VHS Professional Learning Community
